about

CCTV took off like a catapult with the hit single “We Belong” in 2010: nominated for Unsigned Act of the year (NRK Urørt), received substantial airplay on national radio (NRK P3), and after touring Norway, finished off the festival season with a spot at the prestigious Øya-festival.

Fueled by the success, but determined to take it even further, CCTV went straight back into the studio again. The collaboration with studio wizard Audun Borrmann (Thom Hell, Rockettothesky, Pow Pow, etc.) was initiated, and their friends in Pow Pow soon became an integral part of CCTV.

After some weeks of experimenting and adjusting, it seemed as though the musical gravity went out of phase. However, as the guitars took on different colours and the drums a manic drive, the age-old battle between the opposites slick/sincere and commercial/credible suddenly made their peace in CCTVs new sound.

‘Hope & Destroyer’ is released 14th September 2012

___________________________________________

CCTV is the bastard popchild of front man and songwriter Shaun Curtis, and combines elements of indiepop, electronica and psychedelia into a fluid concoction of post-traumatic bliss. CCTV's melodic pop-prozac is laced with traces of madness and alienation, the manic chase of ecstasy, and more importantly perhaps, the longing for a deep understanding that seems so hard to find. Curtis is not afraid of being neither dark nor catchy, which is easy to hear on CCTV’s first recording, "We Belong". Stealing and loaning shamelessly, a vast array of influences clings to the lushly textured songs.
